SG NORTHSHORE SENIOR REPS 2021-2022
Thank you to Doubletakes Photography for our headshots and group photo!
SG Northshore has partnered with Our Friends Closet for this coming school year. The SG Northshore Senior Reps will take an active role in helping raise awareness for Our Friends Closet and their needs, and complete community service projects when able.
Our Friends Closet is a non profit that provides much needed items to homeless and low income students in our community including individually wrapped snacks as well as food and meals for those students that do not have food available to them after school, weekends, and during school breaks.
We also provide personal hygiene products and other dignity items to students in need.
Wendy Oltmann Keller & Tina Billiot
For those that do not know us, Tina and Wendy have been friends for 30 years and together we started this non profit to help students in our community.
Wendy’s 14 year old came home from school after Thanksgiving and asked for a few hygiene products. Upon questioning her, she mentioned that it was for a student at school that was homeless.
The very next day Wendy contacted the school and was told that the schools have many students that are low income and/or homeless. These students do not always have basic hygiene products.
We set up Our Friends Closet to provide free hygiene and basic need items to low income and/or homeless students with our first delivery in January of 2018. By April 2018 we had delivered hygiene, basic need products and individually wrapped snacks to 20 Junior High and High Schools in St. Tammany Parish.
We have since added schools in St. Bernard Parish, Washington Parish, Bogalusa, Tangipahoa Parish, Jefferson Parish and Ocean Springs Mississippi providing much needed items to 60 schools / 1500 + students.
From time to time we also receive requests from the schools for a student that has an urgent/immediate need. Because of the generous donations, we are able to post these immediate needs on Facebook and provide items to students. (clothing, shoes, etc).
We are officially a 501(c) (3). We have no administrative costs, and everything collected goes back to providing items for the students in need. There is absolutely NO question that your efforts will make life better for these students.
